2024 has been a year with lots of improvements, both to the BNamericas platform and to the way we keep our database updated. This translates to a bigger, more timely and more accurate dataset, and easier access to the most relevant data for every individual user.

What’s new for me?

We made it easier to keep up to date with what’s new. The new homepage gives you easy access to a feed of changes in the projects and companies you follow, as well as the latest news articles, links to the most viewed content, items shared with you, and much more.

Links to projects and companies that were added since your last visit helps you see what’s new. You can also achieve this in the project and company lists, using the “added since my last visit” toggle switch.

Improvements in contact information

We have changed the way we structure our database of contacts. The more than 60.000 contacts that are part of our People Database are now categorized by “area” (such as Finance, Legal, Purchasing) and “level” (for example C-level, Analyst) within their company. This makes it easier to find the people relevant to you, regardless of their position or title.

Together with this change in the data structure, we also changed how we visualize contacts on our platform.

The “related companies and contacts” tab in Project and Company profiles is now much easier to use, with filters for roles, areas, company types, and much more. If you haven’t already, we encourage you to go take a look.

Regarding keeping all of these contacts up to date, new technology and the use of AI have allowed us to increase our capacity to review key people in critical projects by 326%. This has helped us increase the People database by 25% in the last 20 months.

A personalized experience

Each one of our users has their unique needs when they log on to our platform. That’s why we personalized the experience to meet these needs.

When you first use our platform, or any time you visit our home page, you can change your scope of interest by telling us which countries and which topics you’re interested in. Once you’ve done this, every section within the platform will adjust to these settings.

The project homepage, for example, will show only Solar projects in Peru and Chile, if that’s what you have set up as your scope. You can still of course override this selection by filtering for something outside your scope.

Our Projects database… an ongoing project!

We have increased our Projects Database by a third in the last 20 months, and we are reviewing project profiles 20% more frequently than 20 months ago. More than 5.000 project profiles in key stages of development are reviewed twice a year.

A lot of exciting improvements in the Projects section on the platform as well. Many of our users were asking for a way to distinguish new projects from extensions to existing projects. That’s where our new “Brownfield/Greenfield” filter comes into play.

Also, we have improved the map tab in our project profiles, and we have improved how we visualize projects that have more than one output and capacity, for example a mining project that produces both Copper and Gold. This applies to both the profiles and the excel files you can download from the projects section.

Company Profiles

Our Company database grew 20% over the last 20 months, and we improved their profiles too.

For example, by introducing “subsidiaries” to the company structure. Now, whenever you visit a company that has subsidiaries, we show you the corporate structure, as well as an overview of projects that not only the main company is involved in, but also any of their subsidiaries.

You can see this applied to the “related projects” tab in Enel’s profile, for example.

Connect with our experts though “Ask Us” and “Custom Files”

Many of our users already use the Ask Us functionality, giving them direct access to our editorial team whenever they have questions about a report, an article or a profile.

The direct access to these industry experts reporting throughout the region is invaluable and we have responded close to 10% more Ask Us in 2024 compared to last year, reducing the average response time by almost 30%.

Also, whenever you submit a question about a profile, we are now offering you to follow that profile and keep up to date with any future changes.

In addition to Ask Us, we launched a new feature: Custom Files. Where the Ask Us feature connects you to the editorial team, Custom Files connects you to our data team.

You tell us in which format you want to receive our Project, Company and People data, and they deliver a custom formatted excel file that can be scheduled to be updated each month or each quarter.

This solution is perfect if you plan to upload BNamericas data to your CRM, for quarterly presentations, and much more. Demand has increase 240% in the last 6 months and we have increased our capacity to make sure we can keep up with all of your requests.

If you think this would be useful for you, please let your Account Manager know.

Looking into the future

It’s impossible to talk about the future without mentioning AI. We at BNamericas are excited about it too and we recently launched Copilot for Reports, a feature that lets you ask questions about a report.

Just visit any report and start interacting using our Copilot. Let us know what you think!

Talking about looking into the future, our Forecast tool has seen an increase in traffic during 2024 and we have done some improvements there as well, especially in the filters and the excel files you can download from here. Expect more improvements to the Forecast tool in 2025.

And what about our future? You may have already heard this… we are expanding our database beyond Projects, adding Assets such as plants, mines, roads that are in operation. This increase in content means more opportunities for all of our users.
